Axiom in 2024

Axiom has come a long way from its early days as a fast-growing memory solutions provider based in sunny Southern California. As we approach nearly three decades in business, we would like to reflect on our unique approach, how we differentiate ourselves from the OEM/third party and why businesses can count on us for all things data center related.

Evolution

The IT landscape is characterized by continuous change. In the span of 25 years, computing requirements have risen from the modest needs of a basic server to hyperscale data centers powering AI applications. The dynamic nature of this industry means that constant upgrades and integration of newer technology are instrumental to accommodating the new applications of the modern world.

Axiom has worked relentlessly to address customer needs from day one, continuously evolving as an organization to provide businesses with the proper tools for their daily IT operations. Since its inception, Axiom has evolved from a strictly memory solutions provider to a end-to-end data center solutions provider that is capable of engineering solutions for emerging IT challenges.

Complete lineup

Nothing exemplifies Axiom’s growth more than our successful forays into new markets. Over the years, we have expanded our product portfolio to storage solutions, network cabling, optics and fiber solutions, IT services and more. The ever-expanding portfolio enables us to better service multiple segments in the IT ecosystem. From endpoints to servers/storage/edge networks, core networks, and to data center/telecom/ISP services, Axiom has a wealth of solutions for each segment.

We have also established specialized teams to address specific needs such as the Axiom Connectivity division to serve the telecom, data center, power and utility industries with cutting-edge optics and Axiom Maintenance Services to extend hardware lifecycles. The recent launch of Axiom Professional Services provides the rare yet much needed Level 2 and Level 3 field-engineering support for businesses.

Best-in-the-game configurator

First-time and recurring visitors to our website will often remark on the ease and simplicity of using our configurator to find the right components for their systems. Most OEMs do not offer configurators, and the few that do are unable to match the thoroughness, convenience, and overall experience of Axiom's signature configurator.

Some third-party configurators either do not include OEM part numbers, or they require very specific information in the query which leaves little margin for error in search relevance when trying to find OEM equivalents. Axiom's configurator is unique in that it allows the user to make cursory searches to pull up obscure part numbers or even post-EOSL components for systems that have been widely decommissioned. With Axiom's configurator, users can enter an OEM part number or even a name of a system and it will pull up a list of compatible systems or OEM equivalent components.

Furthermore, the part number nomenclature is as simple as it gets. To get the part numbers for Axiom equivalents, all the user has to do is take the OEM part number and add an “-AX” to the end of the part number. I.E. OEM part number: 123456789 → Axiom part number: 123456789-AX It's a simple and intuitive naming system that helps avoid the confusion surrounding lengthy part numbers. Organizing thousands of part numbers can be an arduous task, but it is a reflection of our commitment to users in ensuring that they are always only a click away from finding the right part for their systems.

Networking lab and capabilities

Our networking lab based in Austin, Texas contains engineering, programming, and testing labs to carry out comprehensive testing of our products. Utilizing advanced equipment in the lab, Axiom conducts in-house testing that runs real applications to verify end-to-end performance of products. The application tests are applied to products such as transceivers, cables, switches, and conducted daily in the lab under stringent standards.

The strict testing and certification combined with inbound and outbound testing help ensure Axiom products have a lower than 0.01% failure rate. The estimated MTBF figure for Axiom Optical Transceivers exceeds 230,000 hours based on historical data over the past decade, and the operational lifetimes have not yet reached the point where “wear out” failures are expected.

The networking lab is able to conduct tests such as the Optical Spectrum Test, Eye Pattern Test, Bit Error Rate Test, Temperature Tests, all of which contribute to maximizing the reliability and durability of our products. With these comprehensive testing capabilities, Axiom demonstrates the ability to architect a complete solution for the network.

Competitive performance with lower pricing

As IT requirements continue to scale, one of the main challenges for businesses is keeping spending under control while retaining a high baseline level of performance. Many OEMs, however, can leverage their brand name and reputation to apply an OEM tax on products, increasing the overall CapEx. The lack of EOL and EOSL options from the OEM can also lead to more frequent hardware refreshes as they can reduce product lifecycles in favor of pushing new products to the center stage.

Axiom offers extended warranties and product support past the EOL and EOSL stages to extend hardware life cycles and keep spending at a minimum. With Axiom, businesses can save up to 60% on IT solutions.

Unparalleled tech support

With a greater number of options for data management/services, the level of proficiency needed to manage these systems increases significantly. In contrast to the baseline standard of Level 1 field engineering support, Level 2 provides advanced knowledge of the equipment, and Level 3 field engineers are able to provide root cause analysis, design solutions, troubleshoot and optimize solutions and provide technology refresh planning and support.

There are many cases that are better served with escalation from L1 to L2 and L3 tech support, yet L2 and L3 tech support is rarely available. With the recent launch of Axiom Pro Services in Autumn 2023, Axiom addresses this longstanding need. Axiom Professional Services (APS) offers both L2 and L3 support and specializes in Datacenter Architecture and Implementation, Server Based Computing, Data Migration and Management. Under the guidance and technical acumen of Axiom Professional Services, businesses are backed by a top-tier engineering support team with extensive experience.

TAA compliant products

Axiom places great emphasis on the quality and reliability of its products, which is why we offer a wide selection of products that adhere to TAA regulations. Axiom TAA-compliant products originated in or are substantially transformed in a Federal Trade Agreement (FTA) designated country, as specified by the Trade Agreement Act (TAA). Protecting national interests and security, TAA-compliant products help check the boxes for GSA requirements. Like all Axiom products, our TAA-compliant products are built from premium components and manufactured according to stringent quality guidelines.

Global presence

As Axiom has grown significantly, we have also expanded our global presence. Starting from Irvine in the heart of Orange County, California, to establishing our corporate headquarters in the fast-growing tech hub that is Austin, Texas, to opening offices in the center of manufacturing in Asia, to expanding up north in Canada, Axiom has expanded a great deal internationally.

Establishing regional offices enables our team to assess local IT needs and provide services tailored to particular regions. This helps us ensure that the quality of service is consistent throughout all regions.

With much of the manufacturing being based halfway across the globe in today’s world, it can be difficult to manage the manufacturing process. Establishing offices in Asia brings us closer in proximity to the manufacturing, allowing us to properly oversee the production process.

More than a hardware provider

Axiom has always been more than just about “the hardware” or even “the cost savings.” In these 25 years building through the channel to serve the IT community, we have established relationships with partners, resellers, VARs have earned a level of trust in our hardware and solutions. End users can rely on Axiom solutions to deliver the level of performance, compatibility, and reliability equivalent to OEM without the high costs. These are all the little things that make Axiom, Axiom.
